Believe the media, not your lying eyes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzOXLn-ed6A

I feel like this clip from Denzel Washington is severely underappreciated. He nailed such a powerful truth on the head with one line, "If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed, if you read the newspaper, you're misinformed".......

That is sheer genius, and the fact that he further expounds on it by including the false intentions of the media just made it even better.

He basically just spoke on what is probably going to be the next pink elephant in the room. Although this problem has existed since the inception of media in the U.S. to promote war propaganda, the issue itself hasn't become an above the surface topic until the circus that we'll remember as the election period of 2016 took over every waking moment of our collective lives. With a 24/7/365 omnipresent, constant brainwashing propaganda machine at the systems disposal, we were indoctrinated with a continuous barrage of disinformation, from both sides, leaving most of us to either cling to the choir of the side that we've always come to take solace with, or, for cynical people like me, see the bs of both sides, speak on them and be ignored by both.

If you're relying on mainstream news for objective, completely factual information, then you, at this point, are extremely naive and dissonant, because we've all known for years that news dispersion has been controlled and manipulated by the government and the oligarchs that puppeteer their strings.

To understand how this game works, one must first understand and accept that a game exists. Once you get past that stage, you can then begin to fine tune the art of disseminating the facts that are woven into the fabric of propaganda. Make no mistake, the truth is being told, because the best and most effective lies are told using a certain percentage of truth. They just give you enough to support your belief, without telling you the entirety of it, because to know all of the truth would destroy your illusion. It's like when folks use the 'black on black crime' statistic to support their belief that black people are inherently violent. If they used the entirety of the statistic, they would see that, statistically white people commit crime at a larger percentage and at much larger volume against other white people, because black people make up so little of the overall population. We don't have a black violence problem, we have a societal violence problem, but things like this serve a purpose, which is to keep us divided, distracted and controllable.

And it's a formula that has been executed to perfection for about a century now. But people don't realize just how deeply it's been executed and for how long. They don't realize that we've been programmed to believe that terrorists wear burkhas and rock long beards, but don't tell you that the biggest terrorists hide behind a flag emblazoned with stars and stripes and have been terrorizing other nations for decades, plundering their lands for their resources and manipulating the regimes of their leaderships from the other side of the globe. This country has sabotaged the efforts of so many nations to establish democratic governments by their own people, because it prevents us from controlling them and their resources. But we're taught that these places never wanted democracy, that they're savages who, for no good reason, are jealous of us and hate us.

The media has played, perhaps the biggest role in accomplishing this......

Always question everything that doesn't add up, or doesn't tell a full story. The truth is out there, but you must first understand that you are constantly being lied to in order to see it.
